Profile
At Play Torbay, our aim is simple… We provide fun, accessible play opportunities all year round including playground adventures, play days and special events. Play is the single most important developmental process in any child’s life and a fundamental human right. We raise awareness about the importance of play in children’s lives by actively involving parents and the wider community in the wonderful benefits of play.
We are a small charity supporting and encouraging children to play and be active outdoors. We provide adventure, friendship, and fun for hundreds of children each year.
‘We believe that play is a fundamental right of childhood and is central to children and young people’s wellbeing and development’ General Comment 17, UNCRC
School age children and their families are the beneficiaries of our work. We particularly support children from disadvantaged communities and those affected by adverse childhood experiences.

We have two weekly clubs ASRUS in Brixham and Mayfield Hub Club in Torquay providing activities and social learning experiences for young people in Torbay who have Autism Spectrum Conditions (which may or may not be diagnosed). It is a place to be with friends, a place to play outdoors, a place to make music with support from music leaders and a place to chill and chat. Each week there will be different opportunities including creating crafts to take home and making delicious food to eat! Please note that the sessions are starting earlier this Autumn.
ASRUS will run on Wednesdays at Indigos play & Ecology Centre, Packhall Lane, Brixham, TQ5 0EQ from 5.30 – 7.00pm.
Mayfield Hub Club will run on Thursdays at Mayfield School, Moor Lane, Watcombe, Torquay TQ2 8NH from 5.30 – 7.00
All sessions costs £3.00 per child and accompanying adults free. Please create and register a profile and then you can use this book all the sessions you need from this point on. Please ensure you determine and book the correct venue as there are now two venue options.
Children and young people who attend are accompanied by their parents/carers and often come with their brothers and sisters too. There are a good variety of activities which usually include bushcraft skills, outdoor cooking, music and karaoke, cooking, arts, crafts, demonstrations and trips. If you have a child or young person that you think would like to attend, we would love to hear from you.
